VA: Pure Hip Hop Party [Sep. 22nd, 2001|11:44 pm]
collating bones
Didn't need to be a continuous mix, but it's not a problem. The biggest spontaneous crowd movement I've ever seen was a few years ago at a Beastie Boys show, where after the opening act (Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, kicking ass), the DJ put on Black Sheep's "The Choice is Yours," and the ENTIRE AUDIENCE levitated. Especially after "pick it up pick it up pick it up!" Lots of thumpers from that particular golden age of hip-hop, some of which I'd nearly forgotten--Wreckx-N-Effect's "Rump Shaker," even Fu-Schnickens' way-better-than-it-sounded-at-the-time "What's Up Doc." Praises be.
