A Drag City Supersession: Tramps, Traitors and Little Devils [Sep. 22nd, 2001|11:39 pm]
collating bones
As if pretty much every Drag City record weren't close to that for the last couple of years, but this time it's a real mega-jam, meaning a struggle for influence between the DC-ers I really like (Edith Frost, guest Tara Key, etc.) and the ones who gently repel me (Neil Hagerty, um, more Neil Hagerty--not that I don't appreciate the woodwind breaks in the Black Sabbath cover he sings). But nobody's saving their best stuff for it, and there's not enough of an aesthetic of its own to make it hold together.
