The Langley Schools Music Project: Innocence & Despair [Sep. 22nd, 2001|11:36 pm]
collating bones
A reissue of a private-edition LP of elementary and middle school students in 1976 and '77 singing, en masse (mostly), along with their music teacher--the choral version of "Space Oddity" is the weirdest, "Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft" (says Lisa) arguably better than the original. But the ones that really hit me are "The Long and Winding Road" (the teacher liked McCartney a lot) and especially "Desperado," sung solo by 9-year-old girls who Really Get It. And can sing, meaning not oversing. Kind of beautiful.
