David S. Ware Quartet: Corridors & Parallels [Jul. 27th, 2001|11:32 am]
collating bones
For their return to indie obscurity, Matthew Shipp switches to synthesizer--a bold move, definitely, but maybe not a wise one. (I appreciate that he wants to stretch out, it's just that he's so much more interesting on piano...!) The elegy for Ware's mother is beautiful, but the rest of this isn't among the best of his work. Of which there's a lot, and of which there will be more.
