Phil Ranelin: Vibes from the Tribe [Jul. 11th, 2001|11:53 am]
collating bones
Mid-'70s Michigan jazz-funk. What's not to like? Tribe was a Detroit (I think) collective that put out their own records--not exceptional, but pleasant and funky. What I really like here, though, is the "8-Track" version of "Vibes from the Tribe"--it sounds like it was recorded off a wobbly 8-track, and that gives it more presence and heft somehow.
