KaraokeJournal: "whoo" as euphemism [Dec. 3rd, 2007|11:50 pm]
collating bones
Very busy night at Chopsticks tonight. Jacq and Sierra came by; I was there until almost 11 and only got in three songs. First up: R. Dean Taylor's "Indiana Wants Me."

Easy enough to sing; I don't think anybody there knew it. Then Led Zep's "Houses of the Holy," the only song of theirs I knew was for sure in my range. I signed up for Clarence Carter's "Strokin'," then got in a conversation with Jacq and Sierra about total overdone karaoke songs, and was informed that "Strokin'" was in the top three. Oops. (I'd never seen it done at Chopsticks and thought I was being all clever and stuff.) So I withdrew it and substituted Queen's "Stone Cold Crazy": two minutes, no problem. (I'd learned it from the Metallica cover, but I like the slight swing of this version better!)

Poor John Deacon. He always looks like he's only onstage because he lost a bet.
