KaraokeJournal: stiffness in bones, mortgages on homes

Paying work was getting nowhere, so I figured I'd take a 90-min. karaoke break. Walked into the bar just as my favorite KJ was stepping up to the mic to the opening notes of "Manic Monday"; mentioned as I passed her that "Valentino" was Prince's name for his penis, kept walking, and got to my seat just in time to see her hit the second line of the song and collapse into giggles. Things were very slow there tonight, following the crowds Saturday for Stache Bash, their annual celebration of all things moustache-related, so I got to sing four songs in just over an hour--

"The Ballad of John and Yoko" (Exhibit A of one of my favorite song categories: songs that are not meant to be sung by anybody other than their original performer)
"Veronica" (requested by Kimmy the cocktail waitress; I'd never done it before, and it went okay--second song in a row with Paul McCartney backup vocals!)
"Fat Bottomed Girls" (because I've been obsessing over that song for the last two weeks, hadn't gotten to sing at Stache Bash, and can't yet do justice to "This Town Ain't Big Enough for the Both of Us"; also, I sing it pretty well)
"Tempted" (kind of a wild-card "oh they need people to sing things, hmm, what do I know?"--it turns out to be at the very tippy-top of my range, but I managed it with minimal cracking)
