|KaraokeJournal: short night

Exile in Guyville as between-song music, and I had a moment of "oh my God this is a great record." So, in honor of Jen and Liz, I did "Supernova." Last night, I had a lot of tedious work that needed doing, and a song in my heart. Or something. So I figured I should make a quick karaoke run to get the song out into the open. When I walked into Chopsticks, Jen was playing |
Then I saw a couple of friends and decided to stay for one more song. I'd seen somebody do a mighty impressive "Mr. Roboto" in NYC a few weeks ago, and tried it myself. I'd forgotten, though, that there is a very VERY high note in the bridge (after "please, thank you")... and, uh, I almost hit it... but I did remember the two mispronounced words in the first verse ("machine or mannequan" and "I am the modrun man!"). A few young people who had never heard the song before were sort of bugging out. (If you are one of the people who reads this journal and are too young to remember it, here's the video.)
Reaction from someone at my table: "Were you ever in Jesus Christ Superstar?"
